Two late goals earned Boro a 4-2 win in their latest friendly at Harold Hill, but victory came only after trailing twice, with the home side scoring early in each half.
The home side took the lead after just three minutes when a long ball bounced kindly for a home forward who – despite the attentions of Scott Doe – rolled a low shot past Jake Anderson.
A low right wing cross sat nicely for Boro to equalise through Finlay Dorrell after 10 minutes, and Romford also had a first half goal ruled out for offside, but the remainder of the first half was otherwise relatively free of threats to either goal.
The second half began in a similar manner to the first with Harold Hill going in front again after 46 minutes when a lone forward latched onto a through ball and shot low past Anderson.
It took Boro until the 68th minute to level the scores. Kris Newby’s ball into the box found Scott Doe and his chip across goal was met by Michael Turner with a firm header.
Harold Hill never looked likely to go ahead for a third time and two goals – the first going in off both posts – earned Boro their second win in three pre-season games.
