Cray were fastest out of the blocks and raced into a two goals to nil lead inside ten minutes. Jack Barry pulled a goal back for Romford, heading home a George Woodward corner before Cray restored their two goal advantage.
Romford completely dominated the second half but were often stopped in their tracks by some robust challenges from the hosts that on a normal day would have seen them sent off. Ryan Imbert reduced the deficit when he lobbed the keeper and the Boro pressure finally got it's reward when Nick Reynolds headed home a Tom Richardson cross after a great move.
Jack Barry had a goal ruled out for offside but with Cray's first real attack of the second half they managed to grab a winner a minute from time when the Romford defence allowed their forward too much time and he powered home.
