The first half was hard fought with chances on goal few and far between, the best falling to the visitors. After 32 minutes, from a rebound Tom Richardson beat the keeper with a volley into the ground and up onto the crossbar, and just before the interval a Jack Barry header and a Tom Richardson shot both went very close.
The deadlock was broken after 51 minutes when Abs Seymour was pushed over just inside the box and Paul Clayton gave the keeper no chance from the spot.
Boro were now dominating but on the hour a Frenford breakaway down the left was crossed into a crowded goalmouth and found it's way into the far corner with it being unclear whether anybody from either side got a touch.
Almost immediately Romford could have regained the lead when Paul Clayton was pulled down in the box and again took the spot kick, but on this occasion the the Frenford keeper guessed correctly and blocked the ball. It actually rebounded straight back to Clayton but he could not control his volley which went just over.
Once again Boro were the victims of some unnecessarily late tackles, but they managed to create most of the chances towards the end with Matt Toms heading against the bar from a corner and a Jamie Dicks thunderbolt cleared off the line when he collected the ball after some head tennis in the box.
