Romford were knocked out of the Essex Senior Cup by Football League Two opposition Dagenham & Redbridge going down three goals to nil, but can be proud of their performance as they were by no means outclassed.

Dagenham fielded five players from their first team squad and enjoyed a lot of the early possession but were unable to trouble the Romford goal, giving Boro the confidence to push forward themselves and enjoy a spell with the ball. The Daggers defence stood firm and their forwards produced a couple of half chances before Romford nearly took the lead on twenty-one minutes when striker Eddie Hart forced his way past the defenders and his left foot shot was saved by keeper Lloyd Anderson's leg, and bounced inches past the post and out for a corner. Romford were competing well in midfield with Abs Seymour and Tom Richardson driving them forward, and it was good work by these two down the right that lead to a string of corners, but nothing came of them. Against the run of play Dagenham took the lead on twenty-seven minutes when Sean Shields got behind the defence and pulled the ball back to Chris Dickson who powerfully fired the ball past Atu Ngoy to make it one-nil. Romford's offside trap was working well and at the other end they were playing some nice football right up until the final ball and mananging to force a lot of corners. From one of these Abs Seymour received it short before laying back to Tom Richardson on the edge of the box but his piledriver was brilliantly tipped wide by the Dagenham custodian. Bradley Goldberg had two chances for Dagenham near the end of the first half but both his efforts were weak and straight at Atu Ngoy.
Romford grew in confidence having only been a goal down at the break, but just couldn't get in a position to trouble the Dagenham goal, with only a Jamie Dicks long range effort that flew over the bar to show for a good passage of play. On sixty-five minutes Dagenham forced a corner that was played back to Goldberg on the edge of the box and the midfielder produced an unstoppable curling shot into the top corner of the goal to make it two-nil. Substitute Ryan Imbert had a shot blocked on seventy-minutes and the follow up by Jamie Dicks went over as he was impeded by the referee who couldn't get out of the way before the game was put to bed on seventy-seven minutes. Nathan Ferguson received the ball in midfield and cleverly chipped it into the path of Dickson who lobbed the ball over the onrushing Atu Ngoy and into the empty net. Romford nearly got the consolation goal they deserved in injury time but Robbie Norris who was alone at the far post missed his kick from Abs Seymour's deep cross.
The team were cheered off by the large contingent of Boro supporters who made up nearly a third of the crowd.
