This was a triangular football tournament between the Blues first team, visitors Romford and a guest side drawn from the Billericay Town Supporters Club.

The afternoon began with a half hour game between the Supporters Club and Romford followed by another half hour game when Billericay Town played their Supporters. This was to be followed by a full 90 minute game between the two winning teams from the above games.

The two opening games went as follows –

BTSCFC 0 – 3 Romford!

Boro opened the scoring on 11 minutes when Jamie Dicks touched in a cross from the right dead ball line by Jeffery Campbell. It was 0-2 on 23 minutes when Ryan Imbert headed in from a defensive looping header from a Campbell shot. The final goal came right on full time from an own goal when a defender chested a hard left wing cross from Kurt Smith into his own net.

BTSCFC 1 – 6 Billericay Town

The home first team scored at regular intervals throughout the allotted half an hour against their keen but tiring supporter’s squad with the supporters getting their goal from a very late penalty.

Billericay Town 2 (1) – 1 (1) Romford

Not unexpectedly it was the two first teams which faced each other in the final ninety minute game of the afternoon.

The Blues started off the brighter but were not able to get past the Boro defence and then things settled down into to being a serious end to end competitive game.

It was the home side who opened the scoring on 20 minutes when Ryan Frost was left unmarked to head in at the far post from a left wing cross.

The visitors fought back to get on terms but it took an exceptional goal for them to do so when Kurt Smith, receiving the ball on the right wing half way in the Blues half, turned inside and unleashed a left foot shot from fully thirty yards which beat the home keeper all ends up to hit the top right hand corner of his net.

Billericay once again started the more lively in the second half and it took them just eleven minutes for them to take the lead again when a rebounding Boro clearance found its way to James Robinson who was clear in front of goal and he blasted his shot past Atu Ngoy.

After this the Blues enjoyed a period of ascendancy for a while but the latter part of the game belonged to Romford. However, try as they could they were unable to get the score back on terms again with their shots being off target or from too far out or too close to the home keeper for him being unable to deal with them.

Overall though this was a good promising first ninety minute performance by the Boro squad against a club who already played three previous pre season friendlies.

Romford Squad: There were two line-ups covering the the two matches and some players interchanged as substitutes during both games.
The line-ups were:
No 1. Aaron Ormand, James Ishmail, Jamie Dicks, Leandro Amaro, Joe Oates, Jeffery Campbell, Alex Affu, Bradley Doyle, Kurt Smith, Wale Odedoyin, Ryan Imbert.
No 2. Atu Ngoy, David Ottley, George Woodward, James Ishmail, Michael Sammut, Paul Clayton, Jamie Dicks, Abs Seymour, Joel Palmer, Lewis Francis, Aime Blessing.
Jack Barry (broken ankle) Tom Richardson (inflamed ankles) were unable to take part.
