Romford came out of the blocks quickest and a Benson Nzuruba snap shot was smartly saved by ex Boro keeper Jake Matthews in the Barkingside Goal. On the quarter a good run and cross by Jamie Matthews was just poked wide by striker Lewis Francis. Another ex Boro player Jordan Tolan had Barkingside's first real shot at goal but it was well saved by Nooy in the Romford goal. Mo Diamte had been impressive in the first half with some mazy runs and he opened the scoring on forty minutes when the ball fell to him ten yards out and he drove the ball home after good work by Nzuruba and Francis around the box.
Two minutes later and the score was doubled when Ke Nzuruba played a neat through ball that Benson Nzurba smartly slotted home.
In the second half we saw some very strong challenges from Barkingside and some quick interchanges from Romford but neither team really threatened the goal. Barkingside did nearly pull a goal back on seventy minutes but the shot came back off the bar before five minutes later Romford substitute Gerrard Brooke-Frazer settled the match when he intercepted a backpass and lobbed the ball home at the second attempt.
