After a goalless first half where chances were at a premium the best attempt came from Bay’s Tom Bryant who hit a rocket from fully 40 yards which went just wide of the home goal and his colleague Dan Williams missed a good heading chance too. For the Boro James Ishmail headed a right wing free kick just over and Hussein Isa missed with two free kicks from just outside the visitors’ penalty area.
With four changes to their line up after the break Romford applied a more direct approach to their football and took the lead on 66 minutes when Toran Senghore placed a perfect looped pass in front of Lewis Francis and the home striker cleverly lobbed the visiting ‘keeper.
The same player was unlucky some twenty two minutes later when he turned and shot after some good interplay between Joe Oates and Hussein Isa on the left but the ball spun wide after hitting both uprights.
With further changes Romford seemed to lose some of their impetus and paid the price for some sloppy midfield and defensive play when their opponents scored with headers on 88 and 89 minutes from Tom Bryant and Dan Williams respectively to give the visitors a win they hardly deserved.
