Goals from Nick Reynolds and Michael Sammut had given Romford a two goal advantage but Canvey pegged us back with two goals in a minute from Gilby and Batch.
Romford dominated possession through out the first half with a slick passing style before a change of tactics saw a more direct approach. Chances came a plenty with Toms, Oxby, Bingham, Chambers, Brooks-Fraser and Oates all going close for the Boro while Michael Gooch in goal made some superb saves to keep Canvey at Bay.
Reynold, Senghore, Kavanagh and Sammut all came on at half time and it was substitute Reynolds who opened the scoring with a shot from twenty five yards that hit the post before going in on sixty-five minutes. Sammut doubled the lead two minutes later when after a good build up he turned a shot into the bottom left hand corner. Another Boro attack on seventy-four minutes ended with a quick Canvey counter attack that was finished by Gilby before Batch hit a good volley from the edge of the box after Romford failed to clear the ball.
