It was Barking who were the first to score on 18 minutes just after the Romford forwards had just missed a clear chance when Ben Turner poked the ball in from close range when the ball was returned in from a left wing corner and on 24 minutes they took a two goal lead into half time through Chas Liddiard following a fast breakaway.
Seven minutes into the second half the Blues seemed to have put the game beyond their opponents when Nicky Driver scored a good goal while the Boro endeavoured to get back into the game which they did on 71 minutes when Alfie Hinton drove home low from the edge of the area.
Liddiard increased the Barking lead again just three minutes later when he easily converted a somewhat fortuitous penalty and despite their continuing efforts it took until the 88th minute for Romford to get on the score sheet again when Dave Chambers drove home but that left it just too late to get any closer to evening the final score.
