When Mark Lord took the field for Romford's first team home league game versus Thamesmead Town last Monday he was unknowingly creating a new record.

At 45 years and 30 days of age he is the oldest player to put on a first team shirt and play in a competitive club match since the club reformed during the 1992/3 season.

In doing so he beat the previous record held by Tony Mercer who who played his last game for Boro on 27th September 2005 at the age of 44 years and 17 days.
