More on Westlands from our Chairman !

Under the heading of: " We were going to try and keep it quiet but it was too hard ! " :-)

In June 2007 we were advised that the proposed share at Hornchurch Stadium would not be able to go ahead. Since then club officials have been working with Havering Council and councillors over the use of part of Westlands for a community football facility. The proposal was to allow the first team to play in the Borough, and to continue our community work, by using the facility as a base for these projects.

It has been a long process, and at times frustrating, with regular meetings, surveys, studies, and reports having to be completed. Obviously the application is subject to planning permission, but to have even reached this position is a testimony to the support and patience of the supporters. No one deserves their own home more.

In particular I would like to thank Colin Ewenson, who has attended all the meetings with me, and to John Monnoyer, our architect, who has gradually been drawn into the world that is Romford FC, and has done so much more than we have asked.

Finally thanks, of course, to Dave Howie without whose input we would never have got to this stage.

We should now start raising not only money, but the profile of the club. If these plans are approved then the hard work begins !

Please come to the AGM where we will have the plans on display.

Regards

Steve
