There were 21 players on display yesterday on a hot afternoon, all attempting to catch the eye of Paul Martin, Alex Goldstone and Mark Lord, as a trial match took place. Martin has told the players that those that impressed the most will be invited to a closed doors game against the first team.

However one player impressed Martin so much he ensured he put pen to paper straight after the game. Craig Jeakins is just 18, and has not played at this level previously which is a surprise when you watch him on the ball.

In true Romford tradition with coaching and nurturing, we may have found ourself another gem.
