Romford put in a much improved performance but in a very even game somehow walked away on the end of a four nil defeat.

Romford gave debuts to three new players and also changed formation moving to three at the back, but it was the visitors who started well yet they rarely threatened until they were awarded a penalty in the fifteenth minute. Bury earned themselves a corner that was swung into the box with the ball hitting a Romford hand and the referee pointed to the spot. Cemal Ramadan took the kick and sent Harry Aldridge the wrong way and the Boro keeper then received a yellow card. In the twentieth minute Ayo Olukoga hit a left foot drive that was well saved while Aldridge saved with his feet from Ramadan five minutes later. A fine Romford move led to Olukoga driving into the box before firing low but the Bury stopper Luis TIbbles made a great save to deny the Boro midfielder. Despite Bury's dominance of the ball the team pushing for a playoff spot did little to create chances and it was Romford who were unlucky to go in behind as new boy Gabriel Kellum worked an opening but the home team were once again denied by Tibbles. Just before half time another Boro debutant, Oguz Yasar fired a powerful shot from distance that whistled just the wrong side of the post with the keeper stranded.

Romford had a penalty shout of their own just moments into the second half when the ball looked to have hit a Bury players arm but the referee who barely gave Romford a free kick all game waved away the protests. Bury had a header just go wide before In the fifty f-first minute the visitors worked some space on the left wing and crossed the ball back into the goalmouth for Ryan Jolland to sweep home and make it two nil. Tibbles, who was probably man of the match for the saves he made at crucial times, denied Romford a route back into the game saving low down to deny Kellum when the Romford forward created some space and ran into the box. Olukoga shot just wide before Bury killed the game off in the eighty-second minute when Ramadan grabbed his second of the game poking the ball under Aldridge and then in the final minute Ryan Horne fired home when Romford failed to clear a corner, putting a gloss on a fairly undeserved scoreline.
