After a fantastic week off the field Romford ended it with defeat on it as a goal either side of half time gave Bowers victory.

On the back of an excellent performance at Colchester on Monday Paul Martin was hoping Romford could end their run of league defeats, however he was forced into an early substitution when Ernest Okoh had to leave the game through injury. The hosts had already been on top early on and could have opened the scoring in the eleventh minute when a long ball forward was not cleared by the Boro defence but luckily the Bowers forward could only find the side netting, A few minuted later and the dangerous Quenton Monville forced a good save from Rhys Hughes.

Midway through the first half Romford started to get into the game with Greg Akpele firing just wide while at the other end the pacey Monville raced onto a through ball and rounded Boro keeper Hughes but could only shoot into the side netting from an acute angle. Romford substitute Rodney Lemba had a shot deflected just wide while a Kurt Smith free kick took a huge deflection but luckily for the hosts it went straight into the arms of their keeper. Just before half time Bowers sent in a long throw that was flicked on and swept home by Monville to give the hosts the lead.

Four minutes after the restart and Bowers doubled their advantage, after a well worked move down the right wing when the ball found it's way into the box for Lewis Manor to tap home. With twenty-four minutes to go Romford made a double substitution introducing Taylor Tombides and Nathan Joseph and these changes seemed to boost the visitors who were suddenly all over the home side and Tombides nearly scored with his first touch after a well worked move ended with the ball falling to his feet. His powerful strike was heading into the top corner before hitting the Bowers rotund defender and deflecting just over.

In the seventy-seventh minute Joseph released Khadean Campbell whose through ball found Tombides but the keeper stood firm to deny the midfielder from a tight angle. From the resulting corner Lemba out jumped the Bowers defence but his header hit the underside of the bar and bounced straight down into the keeper's arms. Lemba headed another near post corner just wide before Campbell raced forward with two minutes to go, and driving into the box he beat his man before being clipped but as everyone expected the referee to point to the spot, he only gave a free kick on the edge of the box that went just over. In stoppage time Boro had another huge chance but George Forrest could only head over when left unmarked from a corner. Romford will now have to pick themselves up before their to visit to Canvey Island next Saturday.
