Brentwood Town are Boro's next opponents as our Velocity Trophy campaign continues

Romford face landlords Brentwood Town for the first time this season tomorrow, Tuesday 8th October with a 7.45 kick-off at The Arena. The two sides have similar records in the competition to date, with Boro having lost 3-0 at Aveley, but then beating Waltham Abbey 1-0, while Brentwood won their first game, 3-2 at home against Aveley, but were then beaten 2-0 at Barking.

While Boro are taking on Brentwood, Waltham Abbey will be entertaining Barking in another game in our section. Barking currently lead the group with two wins from two games, while Waltham Abbey sit bottom, having lost to both ourselves and Grays Athletic.

Romford have only beaten Brentwood once in the last ten meetings, a 3-2 Isthmian League win at Ship Lane in January 2018, and have not won at The Arena against them since the 2012-13 season, when a 3-1 win on the final day of the campaign earned Boro an eighth placed finish, the club's best since returning to the Isthmian League in 2009.

Romford were without a league game last weekend, while Brentwood collected their first win in BetVictor Isthmian League North this season with a 3-1 victory over AFC Sudbury.

If the scores are level at the end of 90 minutes in tomorrow's game, each team will gain a point but there will then be a penalty shoot-out, the winners of which will earn a bonus point. So far none of the seven games played in our group have ended in a draw; will this game be the first?

Finally, a reminder that Romford's remaining games in this group after tomorrow are away to Grays Athletic on Wednesday 23rd October, and at home to Barking on Wednesday 27th November. Both games are 7.45pm kick-offs.
