On The Road To Barton

The FA Cup returns this week, and for Romford it's the chance to advance to the Second Qualifying Round for what would be the first time since 2014, and equally importantly, the chance to pick up prize money of £4,500

Standing in our way are BetVictor Southern League side Barton Rovers, who currently sit eighth in the Southern Central Division with two wins and two draws from their opening five games. Last Saturday they drew 2-2 at home with Bedford Town and won 3-0 at Kempston Rovers on Tuesday evening. Rovers have reached this stage of the competition following a 2-0 win at Cambridge City in the Preliminary Round.

Although we have not met Barton Rovers for many years, this is by no means Boro's first visit to Sharpenhoe Road, as the sides met on twelve occasions in the late 1990s and early 2000s, although the most recent meeting between the sides was way back in January 2002.

Although Romford have not played Barton Rovers in the FA Cup before, Boro have played an FA Cup tie at their ground. In 2010 Romford played Crawley Green in the First Qualifying Round, and after a 1-1 draw in the home game at Aveley, travelled to Barton-le-Clay for the replay and won 2-1

A coach is running to this fixture, leaving Play Football in Romford at 11.30am, with a pick up approximately fifteen minutes later at the Holiday Inn, Brentwood. Fares are as usual, £12 for Club members and £15 for non-members. Independent travellers should note that the Post Code for your Sat-Nav is MK45 4LQ
