Under 16’s the story so far this season.

A successful trial day was held at Ford’s at the end of June with over 75 players in attendance. With valuable assistance from 1st team manager Mark Reed, reserve team manager Paul Martin and my colleague Rob Pitt the day was a success and over the next 3 weeks we settled on a final squad of 21 players. Since then, despite several players being away on holiday we have been training regularly in preparation for the season. We have played several pre-season games culminating with an excellent away win on the stadium pitch against Brentwood last Sunday.

Improvement has been made with the players working with Rob and me on all aspects of play, and I am very encouraged with the way we are gelling together as a squad. It has been good to have all the Romford teams together at Ford’s for pre-season and the co-operation and assistance both Rob and I have received from the senior management at the club has been invaluable.

This is our 1st season managing at this level and I am really looking forward to the considerable challenges ahead.

We start our league programme at Ford’s against Thurrock this Sunday (9th) Kick-off 11.00am and hope that as many of the parents and supporters can come along and get behind the lads.

Under 16 Manager

Under 16’s Trip to England U17's

On Wednesday 29th August some of the Under 16 squad, along with manager Jeff Sears attended the England Under 17 game versus Northern Ireland at Brentford’s Griffin Park. As a result of Romford’s Charter Standard status we are invited to apply for free tickets for certain FA representative games and I took the opportunity to take some of my squad on a team building exercise. Everyone who attended said they thoroughly enjoyed the evening and learnt a lot from watching the players, who are of a similar age to themselves, and the ability levels shown. England won the game 6-1 scoring some great goals and if the opportunity arises to do something similar later in the season I will apply for further tickets.
