ROMFORD 4 (1)- (1)1 Tilbury Attendance 82 - Ship Lane
Romford again put in a hard working performance and capitalised on their chances to record a second victory of the week on home turf.
There was only one forced change to the midweek starting line up against Stowmarket with Tom VICKERS coming in at centre back for injured skipper Adam McGeorge. Boro's tactics were similar as well with everybody working hard to play a pressing game whilst keeping their shape at the back against Tilbury's dangerous forwards.
After a couple of half chances at either end Romford took the lead after fifteen minutes when Jonathan NZENGO, on the right corner of the area skilfully brought down a ball hit long and high from deep on the left and surprised the defence and keeper Bogard by accurately placing his shot into the far corner from a tight angle.
Both teams created some more chances during the half but Boro would have gone in for the break disappointed as with only a minute to go they conceded an equaliser when Tilbury were given too much space on the left and Stephen REYNOLDS could only parry a long shot, with Hornsley on hand to hit home the rebound.
The second half began at a faster pace than the first with both sides going close before Romford went back into the lead after fifty five minutes. Jamie DICKS made a great run through the middle before his pass split the Dockers' defence and was collected by Ben CLARKE who rounded Bogard and shot into the empty net.
Boro had a break three minutes later when a speculative long shot from distance hit the outside of the post with Reynolds beaten but they got some breathing space when Clarke got completely free down the right after seventy minutes and his whipped in cross evaded everybody except Nzengo who swept in his fifth goal of the embryonic campaign.
Tilbury tried to respond, but the Boro defence, superbly marshalled by Danny COSSINGTON held firm before Chris TAYLOR again got his reward for ninety minutes of selfless running when some good interpassing between Jonathan ADEBAYO and Dicks allowed the latter to fire in a fierce shot which Bogard could only palm out directly to Taylor to score from close range.
