Boro Back With A Bang!

Malaki Toussaint and Jesse Olukolu were among the scorers as Romford won a highly entertaining and high scoring encounter against Waltham Abbey at Capershotts.

On a gloriously sunny spring afternoon, Romford started with a bang and went ahead after just eight minutes. It was 2-0 after 13 minutes, but the home side halved the deficit two minutes later and equalised after 28 minutes.

Boro got their noses in front again five minutes before the interval, made it 4-2 through Malaki Toussaint after 42 minutes, and went to the dressing room 5-2 up with a goal in first-half stoppage time.

While Waltham Abbey were able to ring the changes, Romford’s options from the bench were more limited following some late withdrawals, and goalkeeper Ashlee Jones spent some of the second half playing upfront.

Abbey pulled one back after 54 minutes, but further goals in the 69th and 87th minutes - the latter coming from Jesse Olukolu – gave Boro an unassailable lead. Abbey pulled another back just before the final whistle.

It’s impossible to read too much into this game, but Romford played some delightful football, and were ruthless in front of goal, although a little porous at the back at times!
