Paul BUTTERFILL

Goalkeeper
Looks like Paul BUTTERFILL didn’t play this season

Biography

Appearances 12 (League 7)

Goalkeeper who did well in 1999 pre-season and was impressive when standing in for the injured Stuart Horne. Rather unfairly made the scapegoat for two straight defeats and didn’t really get a look-in with Jon Rumsey and Tony Williams also in the squad. Later played for Aveley in Division Three but returned to play for Paul Joynes in the summer of 2002. Had a good pre-season but only made one appearance early in the season, again finding himself third-choice behind Nicky Wilson and Marc Baker. Stayed loyal to the Club and returned for the following season under Mark Reed, once again being at the back of the queue and restricted to a couple of appearances in cup-ties. Found more regular football with Metropolitan Police reserves and played against Boro in 2004 pre-season.
