Preview of the weekends game

Unbeaten Harlow Town up next for Romford

Tuesday’s postponement at Thamesmead Town has provided Paul Martin with a full week to prepare for Romford’s toughest game of the season to date. Floodlight failure at Bayliss Avenue not only denied Romford the opportunity to leapfrog their opponents in the table, but also the chance to extend their impressive form in November and push themselves further clear of the relegation zone. ‘The Boro’ will now be gearing themselves for a home fixture against second-placed Harlow Town who have been in wonderful form, recording five straight victories and sit 3 points behind league leaders Needham Market with 3 games in hand. While Romford are likely to be underdogs at Ship Lane, bookies.com is one such site where punters can receive the best odds this coming weekend.

Boro recover from poor October

Four straight league defeats in October put Romford in a perilous position amidst other teams battling at the foot of the table, with Martin requesting a marked improvement in performances and results. The players have duly delivered to lift Romford into 15th following three wins in four games, with the 4-0 defeat at Ware the only blotch on the copybook in November. A thoroughly deserved 3-0 victory at basement team Burnham Ramblers was made all the more impressive by the number of chances created, with an Eddie Hart brace and Ryan Imbert’s 10th goal of the season securing all three points. Harlow Town will undoubtedly provide a much stronger test for Martin’s side, with fans hoping that Romford will put in a spirited performance and try to put the visitor’s long unbeaten run to an end.

Unbeaten visitors

Remaining unbeaten since May 4th is a wonderful achievement for a football club at any level, with Harlow Town looking to extend their superb run of victories to six when they arrive at Ship Lane. Danny Chapman’s side have recorded 15 victories and 4 draws since losing to Witham Town in the Play-Off semi-finals, and have recovered from the heartbreak in some style. Although the league has yet to hit the halfway point, it appears that no-one is able to stop Harlow Town in their tracks; their victory against league leaders Needham Market on November 8th was a statement of intent, while they swept Redbridge aside with minimal fuss in their 4-0 win last weekend. Romford will have to come up with a way to stop Isthmian North’s hottest striker, Alex Read, who has a wonderful record of 25 goals in just 27 games in all competitions.
