Groundshare deal reached Following the recent disappointment of the information that Ford Sports were unable to renew our lease, the club is pleased to announce that a groundshare deal has been reached with Aveley Football Club. Chairman Steve Gardner stated that he felt this was the best deal for club based on both financial and geographical issues. He hoped supporters would view the move as a positive, and vowed to increase the support for next year, despite playing out of the Borough. Aveley officials listened to our plight and were very sympathetic. As well as the usual groundshare arrangements there are advertising opportunities at the ground and all money from the tea bar will be ours. It was clear from our first meeting that this was going to be as much a partnership as a groundshare, and we are already exploring ways to promote both clubs. Our supporters have always followed us, and to further places than Aveley. We have been given full use of all facilities on site and have the opportunity for home pre season friendlies; something we have not had for a few years. Gardner went on to thank the other local clubs who had offered assistance and advice over the last week. Ironically, Romford's next game is at Aveley next Saturday when they play away to Mauritius Sports, the current tenants.

Romford travel to Concord Romford travel to Concord at the weekend in a game both sides will be desperate to win. Concord will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing exit from the FA Vase with a win to continue the pressure at the top of the ESL. Romford will be looking to extend their unbeaten run under Paul Martin and go one better than the recent 1-1 draw with Concord which exploded into life in the second half. Concord will be hoping for a large crowd on the back of recent attendances, whilst Boro faithful will no doubt be making the trip to Canvey Island. An update on team news will appear here soon.

Martin gets off to a flying start New manager Paul Martin was true to his promise of attacking football when in his first game in charge Boro romped to a 4 nil win. Martin said after the game that he was pleased to keep a clean sheet, and receive no bookings, as he was with the goals.
Press Release It is with regret that the club has to accept that Mark Reed tendered his resignation to the club on Thursday evening (17th). Mark, along with assistant Paul Rogan, and head coach Steve Brice felt the time was right to take a break. This was not an easy decision for Mark who has played for and managed this club with passion and enthusiasm. Chairman Steve Gardener reluctantly accepted their resignations and stated all three would always be welcome at the club, and that in their five years had helped the club, not just the team, to flourish into the community club we have become. The vice chairman and I sat with the three of them on Thursday and discussed the reasons that Mark gave, and we fully understand their reasoning. Even at this level the demands on a manager's time are great and we thank them for their efforts and wish them well in the future. It was agreed that Mark will manage the team one more time on Saturday against Clapton, to allow the supporters to say goodbye properly. If the game is postponed then he will be at the reserve home fixture. On Monday the 21st, Paul Martin, affectionately known as 'Magic', will be promoted from reserve team manager to run the first team. Gardener said: "Paul was an obvious choice, he knows the players, we have worked with him for three years already, and he understands how we operate, and our plans for the future." Paul's first game in charge will be away to London APSA, Thursday 24th.
Council steps up search for Boro's new home after football league pulls plug on ground-share. The Ryman Football League has refused to sanction a proposed ground-share between Romford FC and AFC Hornchurch. Havering Council is now striving to protect Romford Fc's long-term future by finding them a new home in the borough. Due to the club's uncertain future at their current ground, Ford's Sports Stadium, Rush Green Road, Romford, the team are in need of a new home ground. Romford FC has a long historical association with the borough and has continued to deliver extensive programmes of activities in the local community. Over the last 6 months the Council has been exploring the possibility of the club relocating to Hornchurch Stadium to ground-share with AFC Hornchurch. Unfortunately, the Ryman Football League has refused to sanction the proposal and has threatened to demote AFC Hornchurch to a lower league if the ground-share goes ahead. The Council feels that due to the rich and charitable history of the club, Romford FC's future should be protected and a new home ground found in Havering. The Council will challange the league's decision while urgently searching for other potential sites in the borough. The Council is also encouraging the creation of a trust to manage Hornchurch Stadium and help maximise the community's use of the facilities and create additional finacial benefits. Leader of the Council, Councillor Michael White, said: "Romford FC has been an integral part of the borough for many years. We are disappointed with the Ryman League's decision and will work to ensure a long and successive future for the club in Havering." In reply Steve Gardener said: "We are disappointed the ground-share was unable to take place and accept the Council did all it could to facilitate the share. We are pleased the Council continues to recognise the excellent community work we undertake and am confident the Council will continue to assist us in a search for a permanent home, ensuring Romford FC are able to continue to serve the local community for many years to come."
